Iran and Kuwait have held the 13th session of their Joint Trade Cooperation Commission, marking the first such meeting in over a decade and signaling a renewed commitment to expand bilateral economic and investment relations. Hosted by Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the two-day session concluded on Wednesday with a focus on strengthening cooperation in key sectors including trade, transport, and industry.
During the closing ceremony, Marwa Al-Juaidan, Acting Undersecretary of Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Mohammad-Ali Dehghan-Dehnavi, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade, signed the final cooperation document. Al-Juaidan highlighted that discussions centered on food security and food safety, stressing the importance of ensuring a sustainable supply chain and enhancing the quality of food products exchanged between the two nations.
Both sides emphasized the need to advance collaboration in commercial, economic, and investment fields, while also promoting industrial cooperation, vocational training, and the exchange of technical expertise to develop skilled human resources. The meeting concluded in the presence of Iranian Ambassador to Kuwait Mohammad Totonchi and senior officials from the customs and port authorities of both countries, underscoring a shared determination to revitalize bilateral trade relations after a 12-year hiatus.
